Shutdown Springfield nightclub could be replaced with restaurant
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The owners of the closed Kick Back Lounge want their liquor license reinstated, so they can open a restaurant under a different name with a new manager.
They even provided a Jamaican buffet for the Pine Point neighbors who attended Tuesday night's community meeting at the Pine Point Library.
"I have nothing against the restaurant," said one Springfield restaurant. "Alright. But the liquor license. And the drama it brings.
So what happens when this happens again?"
Two men were shot and killed in the Kick Back Lounge parking lot on State Street last June.
The owners met with neighbors to say their new restaurant will be very different.
"We're doing a lot of changes," said Raymond Edmondson, owner of the proposed restaurant. "Security. Putting in a new security system, cameras, and everything. So it's gonna be better than it was before."
Edmondson said he's optimistic he'll win a positive recommendation from the neighbors by the next time they meet.
Renovations have already begun inside the restaurant which now has a sign outside that says Club Pandora.
