A security guard was stabbed, slashed and punched in a brutal attack after quizzing a couple who he suspected of attempting to leave a store without paying. Now police have launched an appeal after the shocking daytime attack in B&M Bargains on Thursday, April 19. Detectives have released a crystal clear image of a pair they wish to speak to following the harrowing incident at the Shirley branch in the Parkgate Development, Stratford Road,.
And officers have revealed the couple had a small child in a pushchair with them at the time of the attack. A West Midlands Police (WMP) spokesman said: "Do you recognise these people?
"We need to speak to them after a security guard was attacked by two people he had challenged for leaving a store without paying. "A man and woman with a small child in a buggy left the B&M Bargains in Shirley at around 5pm on Thursday, April 19."
The guard was knifed in his right thigh and slashed across his left arm after ordering the couple to hand over their stolen goods. He was also kicked and punched after challenging the duo. "When the guard followed them and tried to take back the stolen goods, he was kicked and punched, and then stabbed in his right thigh and slashed with a knife across his left arm," the WMP spokesman added.Police want to speak to this couple after a security guard was stabbed at B&M Bargains in Shirley
"The pair then ran away, taking the child with them.
"The man was described as white with blonde or ginger hair, in his late 30s and around 6ft. "He was slim and wore a grey t-shirt, grey trousers and he had scars on his left arm. "The woman was described as being in her mid-20s, of slim build and around 5ft 7ins.

It happened as they spoke to four young men, believed to have been responsible for a theft at the store in Hagley Road, Edgbaston. One of the guards was stabbed in the arm. The incident was the second knife alert at the store in less than a year.
Last April, a worker was threatened with a ten-inch blade after a shoplifter was caught trying to steal a bottle of spirits.
