Nightclub where teenager Daniel Kirkwood murdered to be transformed
The city centre nightclub where teenager Daniel Kirkwood was stabbed to death is to be transformed. Society has now been bought, and will be transformed into an E-Sports bar entertainment centre with karaoke private rooms. The club in Tower Street was on the market for GBP90,000 - although it cannot be used by its next owner as a nightclub.
Michael Ramus Architects has written a letter on the planning application for the sports bar - which has been approved. It does state that the sports bar is a membership only club and needs to be pre-booked, and the groups of people in there will be individually catered for. They have made it clear there will be no gambling or fruit machines.Daniel Kirkwood.
Inside the E-Sports bar
Most of the E-Sports games involves more than one person, normally 5 people.
The popularity of E-Sports games allows people to come and find a suitable venue to sit together and play the electronic games with like minded people in one place. People can play with their friends together and order drink and food. The bars can hold competition events for their customers with these games, and can also host other electronic gaming activities for entertainment uses. What the E-Sports bar could look like (Image: Michael Ramus Architects)
The karaoke areas of private suites are also proving very popular for groups of people to meet and enjoy a singalong in an area that is exclusively booked for that group.
The rooms vary in size so that small parties can also be catered for. The rooms will have bar service delivered to the room by staff as ordered from the room. All the rooms will be sound isolated for the enjoyment of users in each area.

Closure of Society
Society was closed after 18-year-old Daniel was killed. He was on a night out with friends at Society when they were brutally attacked in the early hours of Mother's Day 2015.
Daniel later died of his injuries having been stabbed in the neck. The doors at Society have remained closed since the murder. His killer, Tobijah Thompson was handed a life sentence at Warwick Crown Court last year and will serve a minimum of 32 years.
The club was famous for its sunken dancefloor and adjoining VIP club Cleopatra's upstairs.
It lasted as a 1,400 capacity venue until the late 1990s. It stood empty until Ko Poda was opened in 2003 boasting air conditioned rooms and state of the art security. After Ko Poda closed the club was revamped under new ownership in 2007 and changed its name to Club Demand.
It was later called Club Ice. The club later became Platinum and in 2011 its owner spent GBP150,000 on a refurbishment of the venue. For a brief time it was known as Skyy Superclub.
