Elderly woman security guard murdered
Coimbatore: A 65-year-old woman security guard was found murdered with her throat slit at Kallupalayam near Tiruchengode in Namakkal district on Saturday morning. Preliminary investigation suggested that she had been waging a war with her employers for a few months in connection with her wages.
The deceased was identified as S Marayi, of Aandikkadu at Kallupalayam near Tiruchengode. Employed with an explosives godown at Kallupalayam as a private security guard, Marayi was living with her son S Thangavel, a weaver.
On Friday night, she left for the godown as usual, but didn't return home on Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, Kaliyammal of Kallupalayam, who was grazing her cattle near the godown, stumbled upon the body of Marayi and alerted the latter's family members.
When alerted, the rural police sent the body to the Tiruchengode government hospital for postmortem. "She was killed by slitting her throat.
Later, the body was taken from the crime scene and dumped amidst rocks near the godown," an investigation officer said.
The police have questioned Palaniappan, 70, a private security guard, and her son Thangavel. "It seems she had been fighting for wages for a few months.
We have formed a special team to nab the culprit(s)," the officer said.
The Tiruchengode police have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and further investigation is on.
The body would be handed over to the family members after the postmortem on Sunday afternoon, the police officer said.
