President mourns mother of senior State House police officer
President Uhuru Kenyatta Tuesday eulogised the mother of a senior State House police officer as a humble Kenyan who believed in the nation's prosperity.
In a condolence message read by State House Comptroller, Kinuthia Mbugua, at Othaya, President Kenyatta said the late Mama Mary Wambui Nderitu would always be remembered for her zeal to improve the community and the nation at large.

"I know Mama Mary Wambui lived a life of single-minded service to her family, the community and the nation," said the President.
"She valued education and in the fullness of time, she brought up a distinguished family," he added.

Former President Mwai Kibaki said the late Mama Mary played an instrumental role during the struggle for independence.
"I note with gratitude that she was among the gallant women who provided humanitarian support to Mau Mau fighters in the Aberdare forest as Kenya's war of liberation raged," said the former President in a message read on his behalf by one of the aides from his office.

The former Head of State pointed out that Mama Mary was always dynamic and responsive to positive changes, portraying qualities of a progressive personality.
President Kenyatta and former President Kibaki prayed to God to give the family strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
Senior government officials, local leaders and wananchi from all walks of life attended the funeral.
