Florida security guard pretends to shoot students

DORAL, FL (WSVN/CNN) - A school security guard could lose his job over a disturbing video posted by student on Snapchat, which showed him standing on top of a school building and pretending to point a gun at students. The school system confirmed the person is a school security guard. The six-second video is spreading fast and quickly forcing fear among students at Ronald Reagan Senior High School.

"I have fear now going to school and I don't want that," student Sophia Urena said. "Our kids don't need to be around that," said one parent who said he was too outraged and too furious to go on camera. The parent said to see the video just days after the deadly mass shooting in Parkland is disturbing.

"The security is supposed to be here to protect and make kids feel safe. They are acting like they have guns shooting down at them. I mean, that's not something anybody will feel safe about.

They are concerned," the parent said. Miami-Dade officials responding to the video said it was taken weeks ago but recently brought to their attention. They also said the employee has been removed from school and will not be returning pending an outcome of the investigation.

Because the employee's actions demonstrated a serious lack of judgment, the outcome of the investigation could result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. "He wasn't a bad security guard, but I don't know what made him want to do that," Urena said. As the school system continues their investigation, both parents and students said they hoped incidents like this will be taken more seriously.

"(This is) not the way kids are supposed to feel at school. They are supposed to be here to learn and feel safe, and it's just, it's not happening anymore," the parent said. "It makes the rest of us fear about our school, and we just want to go to school to learn and be safe," Urena said.
