Advent IM launches MyDataProtectionOfficer with GDPR looming

alarm clock with text GDPR General Data Protection Regulation

Ahead of the GDPR coming into force, security consultancy Advent IM has launched a data protection advisory service.

Called MyDataProtectionOfficer it aims to help businesses and organisations that lack the resources to have a dedicated data protection officer (DPO), or are simply looking for a cost-effective, flexible alternative route to compliance. MyDataProtectionOfficer is designed to meet all GDPR requirements for a DPO, without the hassle and costs of employing a full-time member of staff. The team of data protection experts that Advent IM has put together is chargeable only for the time an organisation uses them.

"We know there has been a lot of confusion and a great deal of fear around GDPR, and many people who have never had to focus a significant amount of time on data protection before are having to do so now," said Advent IM Director Julia McCarron. "If you meet the criteria for a DPO and have perhaps left it late to work out how to resource one, or you can't get the level of expertise you need on a budget, or simply don't feel your business warrants a full-time resource, then MyDataProtectionOfficer is for you. "Not only that by with Advent IM's wider information security expertise and knowledge of implementing standards such as ISO27001, Cyber Essentials and IASME, those using our service benefit from a holistic approach that considers the wider aspects of securing all types of information.

What may seem daunting to you, is business as usual to us." The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) comes into force across the EU - including the UK - from 25 May 2018. It strengthens the rights of data subjects and introduces much stiffer penalties for organisations found to have contravened the law.
