BAE Systems launches cybersecurity tool for protecting integrated supply chains

Supply Chain Assurance

BAE Systems has launched Supply Chain Assurance, a cloud-based platform to protect integrated supply chains against cyber breaches.

Striving to optimise the speed and efficiency of their supply chain, organisations increasingly integrate their data and systems with those of suppliers. But this leaves them vulnerable to cybersecurity breaches at the suppliers. BAE Systems says Supply Chain Assurance mitigates the security risk of integrated supply chains without creating labour intensive supplier management problems.

One third of C-level executives fear that a vulnerability within their supply chain network will be responsible for a successful cyber attack on their organisation, according to research[1] by the defence and aerospace giant.

BAE Systems is pitching this to businesses of all sizes, but it's essentially any business with integrated supply chains, so it's fairly enterprise level.

  • Risk-based profiling
  • Three-tier assessment model
  • Based on recognised security standards
  • Automated scheduling and workflow
  • Centralised, secure data repository
  • On-demand MI & reporting
  • Prioritised remediation advice and management
  • Reduced effort for Procurement and Security teams
  • Engineered for scalability and security
  • Cost-effective billing options

Says BAE Systems

"Suppliers are vital to the success of every business," said Robin Oldham, Head of Cyber Security Consulting Practice at BAE Systems. "They increasingly have privileged access into their customers' systems and this makes them natural targets for attackers looking for an easy way in to steal business secrets and customer data. This is especially true where smaller suppliers can't match the resources and skills of their customers when it comes to cyber defence. "We have seen first-hand evidence of this in the recent case of Operation Cloud Hopper, where well-resourced attackers had targeted and infiltrated business process and IT outsourcers, to gain access to access their customers' networks."

"Our new Supply Chain Assurance service gives organisations the tools to quantify and understand the risk they are exposed to through their supply chain - one of the most vulnerable and underestimated network entry points." Supply Chain Assurance[2] was tested and readied for commercial use by applying it to BAE Systems Applied Intelligence's own supply chain. For further information, visit:
