One man has died after being shot by nightclub security guards Saturday night after they say he opened fire on the club.
31-year-old Mathias Moreland has died from gun shot wounds he sustained from the shooting. It started with a dispute between Moreland and another man inside the Backstage Atlanta Nightclub. Both men were escorted out, and that's when witnesses say he went to his vehicle and grabbed a gun.
According to police, Moreland started shooting at the building, and two security guards fired back. He was struck multiple times and was taken to Grady Hospital where he was declared dead. Melvin Smith, one of the security guards, was arrested for possession of a stolen gun.
Police say neither security guards have been charged in Moreland's death.

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - A man has died after a shootout at the Backstage nightclub in College Park. Major Lance Patterson tells FOX 5 the suspect and another person were kicked out of the club after an altercation. That's when the suspect, 31-year-old LaGrange resident Mathian Moreland, allegedly went to his car to retrieve a gun.
Investigators say the suspect began firing at the venue and into the air. The building suffered some damage, then two hired security guards fired back. The suspect was hit in the head and across his body.
The gunman was taken to the hospital and authorities now say that the man has died. Officials say no one else was hurt. One of the security guards has been arrested after the incident for theft after police say that they discovered his gun was stolen.
College Park Police continue to investigate and speak with witnesses.
They plan to release more information when it's available.
